Samsung’s newest case is an effort to hit Ericsson’s bottom line. Ericsson gets about a third of its revenue from North America, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. Samsung continued to keep the Wuhan suit secret, even after Ericsson provided notice that this case had been filed. Id. The Stockholm-based company accused Samsung of threatening to only cross-license its patents if Ericsson accepted a lower rate. The Wuhan Intermediate People's Court of China handed Samsung an injunction prohibiting courts elsewhere from litigating the issue and Ericsson has asked a federal district judge to block enforcement of that ruling. Samsung eventually notified Ericsson of the existence of the action in Wuhan (but not of the anti-suit injunction application) on 17 December. On Christmas Day (25 December), Ericsson received notice of the granted anti-suit injunction.
